Pre-Compliance Safety Testing Services

Compatible Electronics provides pre-compliance safety testing — informal early-stage evaluations of your product against IEC safety standard requirements — allowing you to identify and fix safety issues before formal submission, saving time and re-test costs.

What is Pre-Compliance Safety Testing?

Pre-compliance safety testing is an informal evaluation performed on a prototype or early production unit to check compliance with the relevant IEC safety standard before formal accredited testing begins. Unlike a formal accredited test, pre-compliance results are for internal use only — but they give engineering teams a clear picture of where the design stands and what needs to be fixed.

Our engineers evaluate your product against the same test sequences used in formal compliance testing — dielectric strength, leakage current, ground continuity, temperature rise, and IP ingress protection — and provide actionable feedback on gaps. This is especially valuable for first-time submissions or products with complex isolation architectures.

💡 Most cost-effective at prototype stage: Catching a clearance distance violation or a temperature overshoot during pre-compliance costs a PCB spin. Catching it during formal testing costs a re-test fee, schedule delay, and potentially a product redesign. Bring your prototype early.

What We Evaluate in Pre-Compliance Safety Testing

  • IP / IPXXB probe — live parts access verification
  • Clearance and creepage distances — measurement against standard tables
  • Marking and documentation review — labels, instructions, ratings
  • Standard applicability review — confirming correct standard and edition
  • Pre-compliance EMC testing — combined safety + EMC evaluation available
